1. Convince yourself it isn't real. Whether it's a horror movie, or ghosts, keep telling yourself over and over again that it's not real.
2.Talk to anyone you trust about what's scaring you. A problem shared, is a problem solved. Talk to someone close about what your scared of, they may even be able to help you even more.
3.If you get scared at night, have some pillows or some teddies around. Wrap yourself up if it helps so you know your safe. Cuddle them tight if you get extra scared. Something soft and cuddly will make you feel secure.
4.Read a light-hearted book or a funny movie. These really will take your mind off of what's scaring you and may even help you drift off to sleep.
5.Try this. Take a small piece of paper, and write down what your scared of on it. Then let the paper go out the window and blow away. Imagine your fear blowing away, never to return. It really does work!
6.If you're scared of being on your own, try to stick close to a pet or a family member or friend, so you feel more secure.
7.If it's a scary movie, ghost stories on the internet, or scary videos on YouTube, don't watch them! You'll just scare yourself even more!
TIPS
- If you don't want to be scared, obviously, don't do stuff that will scare you!
- Sleep with a fun, cheerful nightlight that changes colors. This is quite a bit better than a plain one that might make you MORE scared by casting shadows:)
- Make a joke about what ever is scaring you such as maybe clowns or the dark. The next time this scares you, think about your joke.
